I have some single friends who are SO totally self-sufficient, evolved women that – although they are “manless” – they make Valentine’s day a joyous occasion for themselves and each other.

Lots of single ladies would find this mass-marketing campaign of love and romance to be a an event “to get through”. But these girls have turned it into a day to celebrate healthy self-love! I think it a great idea and you might want to join-in.

Depressed at not having a date for the evening? nope – not them! Instead, they meet-up and have a lovely dinner themselves… and I mean an elegant meal in a fine restaurant, with candlelight, flowers - the whole deal.

They order flowers, chocolates, lingerie and more to be sent to themselves and – guess what? it is THE flowers they really like, THE perfect choice of chocolate, and lingerie that they WANT to wear and are comfortable in and which is a true treat; for themselves, not having to please anyone else with it!

 My husband, Gunny, does a good job of observing the mandatory holidays, and I appreciate it.  But these ladies are really onto something. Let Valentine’s Day be a celebration of appreciating and rewarding the wonderful women you are.
